Moving your flock

When asked why they chose a life of ministry most church employees will provide you with answers that fall along an expected spectrum. Perhaps they chose that life out of a religious fervor and a desire to spread their faith, perhaps they chose that life out of a desire to help the less fortunate and minister to the marginalized. Perhaps they chose ministry as a means of bringing them closer to a sense of inner peace. Whatever the particular reason in is common for people in this line of work to produce grandiose answers when asked of their motivation for such a life. Sadly what is also common is for those people to overlook the day to day monotony such jobs can sometimes bring. For example a minister my take his job to spread his faith but not realize that sunday school students need to be enrolled and their payment collected, accounted for and processed, that church repairs need to be estimated paid for and completed, the list could go on. Another area that is often overlooked in these scenarios is the church bus.
A church bus is something you may or may not have experience with depending on your denomination and the size of your congregation. Your church may have its own personal church bus or you may use public transportation or regular charter buses for church trips and functions. However if your group regularly uses a church bus you know how important a church bus can be to your ministry. Without a church bus it can be more difficult to take the trips and attend the meetings and conferences that help grow and enrich a group's faith. So while a church bus may not be the most high minded thing to remember in your ministry you might do well to keep it in mind.
