|
Curiousgeorge is a monkey who is the main character in a series of popular children's books. The series of CuriousGeorge books have been written by Hans Augusto and Margret Rey. CuriousGeorge books have become so popular with children that they have been translated into several languages. CuriousGeorge is a monkey who has been brought from his home in Africa to live in a big city by 'the man in a yellow hat'. Seven original CuriousGeorge books were written by the authors. The books relate how he is captured and taken by ship to live in the big city. The man in the yellow hat puts CuriousGeorge in a zoo from where he escapes. The man in the yellow hat finds CuriousGeorge and takes him to live in his home. The rest of the stories tell about the adventures that he has. Interestingly if you look at the caricatures of CuriousGeorge you realize that he does not have a monkey's tail and resembles a chimpanzee. The man in the yellow hat's name is not revealed in the books. He keeps popping back into his life and is referred to as the man, your friend or the man in the yellow hat in the books. A series of animated films for television were made which were later adapted as the second series of CuriousGeorge books. A third series of CuriousGeorge books appeared in 1998. Because of the popularity of a video game of this name was released in 2006. The original CuriousGeorge books were said to have been illustrated by Hans and the stories were written by Margret. Walt Disney abandoned the project to make a film on CuriousGeorge. At Universal Studios in Florida there is a theme park named CuriousGeorge goes to town. CuriousGeorge has been commercialized and there are many CuriousGeorge items for children in the market. Finally in 2006 the animated film CuriousGeorge was released. This project had been in doldrums since 1992. The film is based on the original CuriousGeorge series of books. The story of the film CuriousGeorge does differ from the original book but it holds the interest of children and makes it more enjoyable for them. In the books he was always landing in trouble in his adventures and his friend would help him out. The CuriousGeorge books will remain a favorite of young children for a long time to come
