The history of RSS feeds is traceable long back to 1995 when Meta Content Framework was developed by Ramanthan V. Guha. These days the growth has been so quick in this technology that RSS feeds are used in peer to peer sharing like torrents. RSS which is an abbreviation for rich site summary, and is jokingly referred to as really simple syndication sometimes and actually is a family of web feed formats. The main use of RSS feeds is in printing and regularly uploading blogs, news or audio video streaming on the internet. It is actually a RSS document containing full or summarized text along with, metadata to capture the interest of the reader and highlight the particulars of the information. So it is nothing but a technique for highlighting news and other like material which are updated from the portals which give access to data embedded in the detailed map of websites. Traditionally used for news websites RSS syndication now has found varied application in websites which need regular up gradation. Also, it is in fact a mini database which contains headlines and summaries of what is new on your website. The quality of the system is that when information is altered, upgraded or added on the website, the program will automatically check the fed in data for relevant changes and highlight the same in the appropriate way. Hence it has become a technology by which all the related websites may share each others updated information and show it on all the pages. The advantage of this technology is that the data of one is accessible to all. Hence the result is that the performance of all the websites improves. This can be read using a software called RSS reader, feed reader or aggregator and the job of this software is to track the changes in the websites for new information uploaded and provides a user interface to monitor this information. Depending upon the nature of ones needs one may choose from amongst various available RSS feeds readers like Amphetadesk, FeedReader, and NewsGato The face of internet has changed with this development and the users can access information with minimum efforts. This is nothing but an information accessing and sharing technique. With the speed with which journalism is operating today, they have been a pace matcher in true sense to continue the vigor in furthering information to end users. This process has helped a large number of users of information and has freed them from the hassle of looking into the depths of web pages. RSS feeds saves time and energy of the user since he does not have to bear the pain of going through the same information again and again and can utilize the time saved to some productive work. One can hence imagine how bright future this concept has.
